Little White Mountain – a hike to remember.

A nice drive and a great one day hike. If you have a truck or 4X4 take Junes Springs road in Kelowna to Little White Forest Service Road and keep on it for several kilometers until you get to where it drops steeply down to the trestles at which point you stay to the right. Finally you get to a small parking area with a couple of cement barriers at the trail head. From this parking area the hike to the top is about 6 km up. It goes very quickly though and you have a nice cabin to stop in at about half way up. Please leave it in better condition than upon arrival. In the winter recreationalists use this cabin to survive.

The only warning to give is that if you think it is warm up here…..think again and pack some extra clothes. One of the most amazing things for me on this hike was when we were at the top Little White and the clouds (it was cloudy and raining the whole way up) opened up in a tiny area of the sky that seemed no larger than a window in your living room to give us an astounding view of the bright shiny valley bottom…and then closed up again. *****Major Little White Trails and Myra Bellevue Provincial Park update*****

There are a number of way to summit Little White. One way is to backpack up from the trail leading from Bellevue Creek Trestle – Myra-Bellevue Boundary Trail (Of which the trail head is found by going to the North side of the Bellevue Creek Trestle and up the logging road leading in the Little White Summit direction for a couple hundred meters). After following the Myra Bellevue Boundary Trail for a steep climb for up to 30 minutes, you will pass the Crawford Wilderness Camp.

Another way is to take June Springs up to Little White FSR as it leads to the old Myra Bypass Trail and then up to the end of the road and parking spot where you can backpack and hike to the summit.

The June Springs to Little White FSR to the parking lot is a nice drive for a 4X4 or truck as well as a great day hike (start early though). When I took the hike several years ago, I did not have a GPS so please forgive the vague directions until I get a better GPS track for you.
