Potato Creek State Park offers several hiking trails. Some extremely easy, some make a great starting point for hiking. Be warned even though they have marked some trails as difficult, difficult is a relative term. Yes it is the most difficult trail at the park, but by no means is it a difficult trail. On a scale of 1-10 I’d give it a 3 for difficulty. Indiana just doesn’t have much in the way of altitude change to make any of their hikes difficult from an altitude change perspective. This photo just past the connecting trail between trails 2 & 4 shows one of the great things about Potato Creek trails… they are very wide. Generally 2-3 people can walk side by side comfortably. One other nice feature, especially if you are out of shape are the park benches located throughout the park. There are plenty of opportunities to sit down and rest. If you look closely you’ll see one at the top of the trail here. The little brown sign just to the left of the bench points the direction to the advanced or moderate trail.
